Turquoise Coast Hiking & Yoga Retreat

Lycian Way, Türkiye5 days Up to 35 travelers English

/ OVERVIEW

Adventure overview

5 days on Türkiye's Lycian coast open with slow, breath-led movement — no rushing, no forcing a shape that isn't there yet. Then the trail takes over: sections of the ancient Lycian Way through pine forest and past ruins, along cliffs that drop straight into the sea, down to coves where the water runs impossibly clear. Swimming happens wherever the trail allows it — bays few travelers ever reach, water so clear it feels invented. The group gathers again for shared meals on the terrace, easy conversation, and evening practice facing the sunset, the sea moving somewhere just below.

Itinerary

Day 1 –Arrival & Grounding

Soft transition and tuning into the retreat space

Arrival at Dalaman or Antalya Airport — meet & greet, comfortable group transfer from Fethiye to the retreat location.

Evening yoga: Yoga Sangraha — a grounding, calming sequence built to settle the nervous system after travel, drawing on Eddie's own compendium of Hatha Yoga postures.

Welcome dinner — a first taste of Türkiye's coast: fresh, local, and thoughtfully planned around every diet (vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten-free, lactose-free). Meet the group, meet the team, set our intentions.

Day 2 – Movement & Exploration

Balancing inner practice with the outdoors

Morning yoga: Sun Salutation Class — the six Sun Salutes of Yoga Sangraha alongside dands from the Kushti wrestling tradition, standing asanas and a slow, seated close. Energetic, but accessible to everyone.

Breakfast — a traditional Turkish spread from local farms: olives, cheeses, honey, fresh bread and seasonal fruit.

Hiking — a picturesque mountain trek with breathtaking views at every turn, guided and paced for the group. Along the way, we'll stop at wild, secret beaches and hidden coves tucked away from the world — the perfect chance to swim, breathe, and truly reset.

Evening lecture: An Introduction to How Yoga and Western Science Work Together — Eddie on where the ancient tradition and modern research meet.

Dinner — a curated evening menu, built around the coast's best produce, with every diet considered.

Day 3 – Depth & Choice

Listening to your body — active exploration or deep rest

Morning yoga: Pranayama Level 1 — an accessible, gentle introduction to slowing the breath, eight patterns over 40 minutes leading into a short relaxation practice.

Breakfast — farm-fresh and unhurried, the Turkish way: eggs, olives, jams and warm bread.

Optional light hike — a journey to the stunning turquoise waters of the Kalabantia Ruins and Beach: a rare blend of ancient history and natural beauty, where a remarkably preserved ancient theatre and city walls rise from a site reachable only by water.

Big evening practice: Pranayama Level 1 + 2 — an extended breathing practice, both energizing and grounding, eight patterns over 40 minutes followed by a short relaxation.

Dinner — a thoughtfully planned menu highlighting local, seasonal ingredients.

Day 4 – Focus & Integration

Insights and closing the circle

Morning class: Kriyas — energizing, purifying Hatha Yoga practices that stimulate digestion and internal fire, a fundamental start to the day.

Breakfast — another spread of local farm produce, simple and satisfying before a full day ahead.

Special workshop: Five Steps for Concentration in Yoga Sutras — an immersive masterclass drawn from Eddie's forthcoming book, Concentration: The Practice of Presence, on what concentration actually is and how to cultivate it.

Evening light hike — a relaxed sunset walk to a hidden Secret Beach, one that's nearly impossible to find on your own. Cool off under a natural shower by the shore, and let the rhythm of the walk carry you into a quiet, unplanned meditation.

Farewell dinner — a final shared meal, menu curated around the group's preferences and dietary needs.

Day 5 – Departure

Taking the peace home with you

Morning session — a light farewell practice.

Breakfast and packing — one last taste of Türkiye's mornings before the journey home.

Group transfer back to Fethiye.

FAQ

How do I get there?

We'll send you recommended flights to get you into the starting city, Fethiye, ahead of time. From there, group transfer takes care of the rest — you don't need to plan a thing.

There are three good options:

Dalaman Airport (most convenient) — a regular shuttle runs from the airport straight to central Fethiye, where our group transfer picks up.

Antalya Airport — about 3–3.5 hours from Fethiye by comfortable regular bus, roughly €10, dropping you right in the city center.

Istanbul → Dalaman — plenty of daily domestic flights at accessible prices, then follow the Dalaman route above.

We'll send detailed instructions for getting from your chosen airport to Fethiye after booking.

Where does the retreat take place?

Yoga kit, layering pieces for sea breeze, hiking shoes, swimsuit, journal and any personal skincare items.

Is this suitable for beginners?

At a boutique bungalow-style hotel right on the Lycian Way, on Kabak Beach — about an hour from Fethiye. You'll stay in one location for the entire retreat, so there's no packing up and moving between hotels.

Do we carry our bags on the hike?

No — hiking starts and ends at the hotel, so your things stay in your room. You only bring what you need for the day.

Do I need hiking or yoga experience?

No — this retreat is beginner-friendly. No prior yoga or hiking experience needed.

How fit do I need to be?

Minimal preparation is required. If you walk regularly or do some form of sport you enjoy, you're ready. We'll send preparation tips in advance — mostly just adding more walking and stairs to your routine.

Do guides adjust the route for the group?

Yes — guides adapt each hike to the group. The evening before, we'll walk you through the next day's route and how it can be shortened or adjusted. There are also points along the trail where you can opt for a transfer back to the hotel.

What ages have done this before?

We've had participants from age 7 to over 75, all of whom completed the route successfully.

How difficult is the hiking?

It's a fairly active retreat, but manageable with a bit of preparation — and a great way to move your body. Intensity builds gradually day by day, so you have time to adapt. We do yoga and stretching before and after each hike, plus two longer breaks (about an hour each) and several shorter stops built into every day on the trail.

What shoes should I bring?

Skip high hiking boots — they'll be too warm. Good hiking sneakers are ideal, but comfortable sneakers you already own will work too. What matters most: comfort, and a sole with real grip rather than smooth or slippery.

Do I need any special gear?

No — we provide everything needed for hiking and yoga at the hotel. Just bring good hiking shoes; recommendations are included in our prep guide.

What should I actually pack?

Just a backpack (20–25L), your activewear, and hiking shoes. We've got the rest covered — comfortable accommodation, traditional breakfasts and dinners, trail meals, and all hiking and yoga equipment.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes — every participant fills out a form before the trip covering preferences and allergies, and the menu is built around it. We accommodate pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free and other diets.

What's the weather like in October?

October is our favorite time on the trail — excellent hiking weather, and the sea stays warm for swimming. Average air and water temperature is around 25°C. Some of our travelers even swim in December — happy to share photos from that time of year so you know what to expect.
