Hi, I’m Mitu Monteiro. I never knew what destiny had in store for me when I was born 41 years ago in Sal, a small African island where everyone loves the ocean. After trying kitesurfing, I fell in love with it.
I patiently saved for six months to buy just a kite, as I had no money for a board. So, while waiting, I made do with an old surfboard—no straps, of course! Who would have guessed that this old piece of wood would eventually lead me to become the world champion in strapless kitesurfing?
Kitesurfing has taught me to turn adversity into strength. I’ve faced challenges and know that passion can make the impossible happen. Riding waves brings me joy, but sharing my passion with others makes me feel like I’m helping more people discover this amazing sport.
My mission now is to inspire others to push through their own obstacles and embrace the freedom of riding the waves. I travel the world coaching others, sharing my love for kitesurfing. Will you join me?
